US Airways Gets with the Times, Finally Releases a Mobile App

They might be a little late to the party—like years late—but it appears that US Airways is finally ready to start doing the mobile app thing. Just this week they released their very first piece of travel technology, and so far it is available in just one flavor—Android.
Expect a lot of the same from the US Airways app that you get from the competition, as you’ll be able to manage all the bits and pieces of your travel itinerary. Check-in for flights, book airfare, locate airline clubs, and of course load up that mobile boarding pass. Speaking of which, they’ve got some kind of spot right within the app where you can store and collect all your boarding passes in one convenient location.
If you’re looking to take things for a test drive feel free to do so high in the sky. US Airways will let you use the app up in the air for free—assuming you have access to Gogo in-flight WiFi. Bottom line there’s nothing too cutting edge here, but it’s certainly a welcome addition. Let’s just hope they announce more options for other devices before their app just gets blended together during the merger with American Airlines.
