After far too many months of Instagram posts that aren't very exciting, AeroMexico has begun to use the photography social media site to brag about their newest bird. In fact, the Mexican airline is not only snapping pics of a 787 Dreamliner of which they've just taken delivery, but are letting the cameras roll with some 'Instavids', and we can't be happier.

A few weeks ago, the airline began getting its followers excited with a countdown to the delivery date of the new Boeing aircraft, using the hashtag, #AMBoeing787. A week before AeroMexico took the keys to their (big) baby, their account was active with a few videos. A cool one showed off the 787 getting painted in time-lapse, while another offered a peek at it pulling out of the hangar and taking to the skies.

Final touchdown from Boeing's production line to Mexico City-Benito Juárez International Airport happened this last Saturday around 11am (local time). Naturally, the fiesta was jumping with the entire arrival telecast via live-feed on their Facebook page.

The airline plans to bring Dreamliners to New York - JFK, Paris, and Tokyo-Narita when it takes delivery of 2 more by November. When all deliveries are said and done in 2015, AeroMexico will have a total of 19 aircraft, 9 of the launch version and 10 of the larger 787-9s.

Pass on this one

In the several years I worked for Boeing's 787 program in its Everett headquarters, I found a dysfunctional culture in which brawn trumps brain, people seem to delight in publicly humiliating others, and purposeful problem solving is defeated by personal politics. Rarely have I seen a case like this in the Fortune 100 in which the wardens delegate management functions to the inmates. They may yet throw enough resources at the 787 to fix its issues, but my own decision is not to ride on it.
