The fast food spot is within walking distance of the shores of Lake Taupo in Taupo, New Zealand. Its plane is a decommissioned DC-3 that has found its final resting place on the side of the eatery's play area. It’s complete with wings, propellers and cockpit. And, best of all, you can go right inside to enjoy your Big Mac. Just note that it’s only open during the main part of the day. So, if you’re heading there for a late-night snack, you might be stuck in the regular dining room.
If we remember correctly — the full story is inside the plane — the DC-3 flew for Australian National Airways for some time, and was a crop duster at another point. However, it’s spent many happy years in its current location.
So if you’re in New Zealand — Lake Taupo to be specific — be sure to swing in for a bite and a visit. Not only is the airplane the best thing ever, but the restaurant is a pretty clean, cool, and contemporary as well.
