How To Volunteer At The 2014 Super Bowl

July 3, 2013 at 3:24 PM | by | Comment (1)

The ticket lottery for next year's Super Bowl might be closed, but there is still a way you can be part of the action.

Super Bowl XLVIII, which will be held on February 2, 2014 at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium, is in need of volunteers to keep things running smoothly. Volunteers will greet visitors at airports, trains, and hotels, help them get around New York and New Jersey, provide them with information about the Super Bowl, and work at events hosted by the NFL and its sponsors.

To have a chance at qualifying, you must be at least 18 and available to work a minimum of two shifts (3-4 hours each) in New York or New Jersey during Super Bowl weekend. If you meet these requirements, submit an application online at www.nynjsuperbowl.com/volunteer.

Is this really a thing? Last time the Super Bowl was in South Florida, I remember many people were hired for "part-time" jobs during Super Bowl week. As far as I know, they were paid positions.

According to the website, the only perk seems to be a free uniform. No volunteers will be working at the stadium on game day.

So, why would anyone volunteer to help the NFL earn more money? (Am I missing something?)
