Lake Effect Artisan Ice Cream's motto is "it's never too cold for ice cream." That said, it's a real treat to visit the newly revamped ice cream mecca in Lockport, NY in the summertime.

The locally owned and operated Lake Effect began in a small storefront and became popular with locals for their Ice Wine and Frozen Hot Chocolate flavors. No wonder! Now, they're keeping up with insane demand with a newer, bigger location in Lockport just across the street from the Erie Canal.

The new location of Lake Effect is in Niagara County, making it an easy stop on the way to or from the Falls.

The flavors change regularly, and if you live in the area there's a Lake Effect app which will give you a heads-up when there's a new flavor to test out at the shop. The app also offers a feature that lets you suggest new flavors; owners Erik Benardi and Jason Wulf read all the suggestions and have made quite a few of them. The best part? They sell to-go cartons. Pick us up a pint of the "whiskey & brown sugar" flavor, pretty please.
