Where to Find Southwest Airlines' Party Porches for the Summer of 2013

Now that the weather is starting to get warmer everyone is getting in on the fun—even the airlines. Southwest Airlines loves to spend time outdoors during the spring and summer, and once again they’re prepping their mini-chain of Southwest Porches for the season.

In New York City, you'll find the Porch in midtown over at Bryant Park, and it’s a quick walk from Grand Central if you’re arriving into the city on the train. They’ve got plenty of drinks on tap (including their own beer), a few bits and bites from which to choose, and even some fire pits for when the weather is less than ideal. Free board games, trivia on Tuesdays, and plenty of adirondack chairs round out the scene. They've been doing their thing here for a few years now, so at this point the place is just part of the neighborhood.

Southwest Airlines is based in Dallas, so it’s not surprising that the city has their own Southwest Porch as well. In Texas the fun is centered within the city’s art district in Strauss Square right behind the Winspear Opera House. We haven’t been fortunate enough to visit this location, but we bet the locals know what we’re taking about. The WiFi is free and the ping-pong is too, and there’s even the special Southwest beer on tap thanks to the Franconia Brewing Company. Round out your visit with a little food, as Wolfgang Puck’s onsite grill probably has something that will hit the spot.

The latest Southwest Porch just debuted its location down in Atlanta, as Southwest Airlines wants everyone to know they love the city as well—watch out Delta. The Southwest Porch at Park Tavern opened up last month, and they’ve already celebrated with a free concert. Don’t worry if you missed that one, as they’re promising more as the place grows comfortable in its new surroundings within Piedmont Park. This porch is kind of part of an existing restaurant—and that means more food. Maybe if Mom is a Southwest fan you can treat her this weekend as they’re doing a Mother’s Day’s Brunch on May 12.
