ZipCar Zips on into Airport Locations
It looks like that Avis acquisition might be rubbing off on Zipcar, as the car sharing company is starting to make more of an appearance at the airport.
It’s no longer just random parking lots and city locations for ZipCar, as they’re moving into the airport rental car lot as well. They've been doing their thing at the New York City airports for quite some time, but now they’re heading into other airport location as well. Some of the first cities that will see the ZipCar brand up close and personal during this second wave of airport arrivals will be Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Jose, Austin, Philadelphia, Atlanta, West Palm Beach, and Toronto.
It’s good to see more rental cars available at the airport, and this will certainly be the case for existing ZipCar members. However, for those just hopping off the plane and lining up for a car—this might not be the best option when you consider the membership fee and the application paperwork.
For now we’ll probably stick with the usual rental car companies since we’ll need our rides for more than just a few hours. However, we can certainly see the upside with the arrival of ZipCar at the airport.
