Six years! That's how long the Airbus A380 has been flying the skies with paying passengers on both decks. That's also how long British Airways has jealously watched other airlines fly their superjumbos around, anxious for the day they could play with their own.

That day is now within reach, as British Airways prepares to take delivery of the big plane later this year. Travelers may already book flights on the first British Airways A380, as it flies from London to Los Angeles from October 15, 2013 and London to Hong Kong from November 15, 2013. Tickets went on sale this morning, and you know British Airways is already rolling out special rates.

Intro A380 offers, including all taxes & fees:

· LA-London in Economy (World Traveller): $830
· LA-London in Premium Economy (World Traveller Plus): $1380
· LA-London in Business (Club World): $3,800

Tickets may be booked online at BA.com and through the regular channels, but do be flexible with your dates to find those lowest prices. There are no specials on the Hong Kong route (yet), and British Airways includes a very important note for true aviation geeks:

A380 enthusiasts eager to be on the very first commercial services should note that dates for these will be announced once plans for training flights are completed.

For all the details on what you'll find inside the planes, check out our guide to the seat plans as well as British Airways' official renderings of the interior.

See you onboard!
