Shake Shack and More on Deck for JFK's Terminal 4

When it comes to eating at the airport this might just be some of the best news we’ve heard all year, as New York-JFK is getting ready to add a whole bunch of restaurants and dining establishments. We’re sure they’re all pretty darn tasty in their own way, and we welcome them all to the terminal; however, there’s one brand that we just can’t wait to see arrive—Shake Shack.

It’s all part of a $28 million development deal, as 16 new restaurants are heading to Terminal 4 over at JFK Airport. That terminal of the airport mostly operates the international flights, so a nice burger and fries will be a warm welcome to those returning from aboard or those visiting the nifty fifty for the very first time. Everything will be completed by the end of the year, and the first phase of the restaurants should arrive as soon as this May.

Feel free to visit the press release for all the highlights and details, but if you’re short on time we’ll just hit the highlights. Uptown Brasserie brings “classic American favorites” to the airport, and it’s just one of two establishments arriving from Marcus Samuelsson and his restaurant group—the other being Street Food by Marcus Samuelsson.

Blue Smoke On The Road is an outpost of the Danny Meyer empire, as they’ll service up BBQ this and that for those looking for something sweet and smoky. La Brea Bakery, Central Diner, and The Palm Bar & Grille round out some of the more unique options, and then of course there’s also McDonald’s, Dunkin Donuts, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

As for Shake Shack the very first one should open with the initial phase of the restaurant expansion, and there will be not one but two of the burger joints over at the airport. One will be situated right at the entrance into the airport market at Terminal 4, and the offerings seem to be the usual fast-food delicacies. Burgers, fries, hot dogs, and of course plenty of frozen custard and milkshakes. It’s pretty early in the year, but 2013 might just be the year of the airport restaurant.
