Snap a Plane Photo That's Not so Plain, and Win $2,500

If you happen to be traveling to the Caribbean island of St. Maarten near the end of March from the 18th to the 23rd, you might be able to earn some cash from all the pictures you'll be snapping. $2,500, to be exact.

We've told you before about the infamous Maho Beach at Princess Juliana Airport—perhaps the most intimate airport in the world for those who aren't catching a flight. The St. Maarten Tourist Office is hosting an aviation photography contest for both amateurs and professionals to see who can capture the best "aviation action" over the island. First place will win $2,500, and judges will select six photos to be put on display in the arrival hall at Princess Juliana.

We know of some pretty nice viewing spots from nearby properties that might give you the edge on the competition down on the beach: The Sonesta Maho and the Royal Islander Club, for example.

Participants must register and pay a $20 entry fee at the St. Maarten Tourist Office information desk in the SXM terminal. Photograph submissions must be emailed to toppix2013@xpress-digital.com (good luck remembering that one) on or before March 22. Include your full name and address along with up to three JPG photos (minimum size of 1200x800). Be sure to turn on your camera's timestamp feature as all photos must contain the date and time.

The photographer of the winning image must be present at the prize giving ceremony on March 23 at Sunset Beach Bar to receive the cash prize, but that shouldn't be too tough to swallow as it's the island's most famous bar.
