The 'Sports Illustrated' 2013 Swimsuit Edition Strips Down on All Seven Continents

The Maldives. Australia. The Grenadines. The US Virgin Islands.

Sensing a trend?

These have all been recent locations to score the cover shot of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. Now brace yourself, because 2013's destination star definitely doesn't belong in the bunch other than the fact that it too is an island—a very large island. Antarctica.

The white continent hosted supermodel Kate Upton in her parka and teensy-weensy white bikini bottom for photoshoots from the Abercrombie & Kent vessel Le Boreal. A ship is pretty cozy environs considering the harsh conditions of Antarctica, but that didn't stop Upton from suffering some early symptoms of hypothermia.

Once she'd warmed up, the Sports Illustrated trotted off to turn this 50th Anniversary issue into a round-the-world affair, hitting all seven continents with models stopping to strip down in Australia's Whitsunday Islands, The Bahamas' Great Exuma, Chile's remote Easter Island, Spain's city of Seville, China's town of Guilin, the nature reserves of Namibia, and—of course—Las Vegas.
