Ben Stiller's The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is one of the first U.S. movies to be primarily set in Iceland, which also doubles as Greenland, Afghanistan, and the Himalayas throughout the film.

Now that the movie is hitting theaters, several tour groups in Iceland are looking to cash in on the country's new starring role by offering trips to some of Walter Mitty's filming locations.

In the Vatnaj÷kull Region, where many scenes were filmed, Iceguide offers tours to the glaciers, a crystal ice cave, and the restaurant Humarh÷fnin, which is featured in the film.

Iceland Travel has also created a 7-day driving tour designed around the Walter Mitty locations in South and West Iceland, including geysers, hot spring areas, majestic glaciers, and waterfalls. The trip includes a rental car, GPS, unlimited mileage, six night accommodations, breakfast, a detailed itinerary, and emergency help. There is also an option to add a Viking Sushi boat tour on the Breidafjordur bay from May to September.
