With 2013 coming to a close it's time to start making your 2014 festival plans now.

Here are five music fests taking place in 2014 that you should already be saving for:

The Governors Ball Music Festival has emerged as New York's best music fest. The three-day event is set to return to Randall's Island with a mix of hip-hop, rock, and indie darlings in June 2014. Past performers have included Kanye West, Kings of Leon, Guns and Roses,Erykah Badu, and Miguel. Signs up for ticket updates at governorsballmusicfestival.com.

Bonnaroo, which takes place in Manchester, TN each June, has remained one of the country's most popular music festivals for the past decade. Everyone from Paul McCartney to Mumford & Sons to the Wu-Tang Clan has played Bonnaroo in recent years. Early bird tickets have already sold out but more passes are expected to go on sale for 2014 in the next few weeks. Visit bonnaroo.com for more info.

Austin City Limits might not be as glitzy as SXSW but its annual line-up is no less impressive. Held at Zilker Park in October, the 3-day festival has featured performances by Coldplay, My Morning Jacket, and Arcade Fire. Regular price 3-day passes will go on sale this spring for $225. This year Lollapalooza brought the Cure, Mumford & Sons, Band of Horses, the Killers, Nine Inch Nails, Major Lazer, Lana Del Rey and other alt-rock superstars to Chicago. In 2014 Lollapalooza returns to Grant Park on August 1-3. Follow the Lolla on Twitter to be among the first to know when tickets go on sale this spring.

The Firefly Music Festival might be lesser known but it packs in just as much as any other major music festival in the U.S. More than 60 acts played the 87-acre site in Dover, Delaware and they expect 2014 to be even bigger. If you're a musician, check out their latest contest where 15 unsigned musical acts are competing for a dream set on the Firefly stage. Four day passes for the festival, taking place June 19-22, go on sale in 2014. General Passes will be $249. Like them on Facebook for updates.
