Travel Gift Idea: Engrave a Beloved Latitude and Longitude onto Jewelry
As much as we hate to say it, now is the time to begin buying holiday gifts…specifically those which require some extra time for customization. Now comes the difficult part: what exactly to get for someone who "has it all," or "has been everywhere?"
We've had our own eye on simple, metal jewelry stamped with the latitude and longitude of a special place. Google Maps can easily provide that information, and handmade-focused sites like Etsy are chock full of expensive and inexpensive options, from leather cuffs with tiny pewter plaques, to engraved necklace pendants and this unisex ring.
For example, a friend went this route to commemorate the very location she made a life-changing decision and literally changed course. She now wears a bracelet to remember to keep moving forward, even if it's actually away from that specific spot.
We can think of a few other examples for latitude/longitude memories:
· For a traveler frequently off roaming the world, the latitude/longitude of home
· For a good friend, your favorite cafe or home airport
· For a couple, the place where you first kissed or first fell in love
· For married couples, the location of the hotel where you had your honeymoon
On the bright side, at least you'll have crossed a name or two off the gift list early, and done so knowing you'll be proud to present such a cool item the recipient can't just go buy for themselves at a travel store.
