This week JetBlue is part of our new routes news, as the carrier is adding destination number 85 to their route network—that’s a lot of blue chips. JetBlue is heading to Detroit, as they start nonstop flights between Boston and the Motor City beginning on March 10, 2014. Three daily flights back and forth between BOS and DTW will be the plan at first with Embraer E190s heading between the two spots. We’re just a little sad the flights aren’t opening up sooner, as fans of the Red Sox and Tigers could use 'em to travel to the away games.
Up next for the planes and people over at Allegiant is the greater Cincinnati area, as the carrier is getting ready to bring some new nonstop flights in and out of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. There will be two destinations as the carrier starts up service from the airport, as Allegiant will head to a couple spots in Florida—Orlando-Sanford as well as Punta Gorda. Orlando flights will do their thing on Wednesdays and Fridays with the Punta Gorda flights operating on Mondays and Fridays. The flying fun starts in February of 2014.

The snow hasn’t started falling yet—at least in our neighborhood—but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start planning for ski season. United has winter weather on their mind, as the carrier is starting service to Gunnison/Crested Butte as well as Steamboat Springs/Hayden both from their base at Chicago-O’Hare. Things will be seasonal with the Crested Butte options starting just before Christmas, and the flights to Steamboat Springs beginning around the middle of February. Things will end for the season on March 29, so be sure to hit the airline ticket counter—and slopes—before that time.
