Qantas Instagrams the Story of a Rogue Kangaroo at Melbourne Airport
This has been quite the week for stray animals wandering into airport facilities. First, there was the story of the adorable kitty cat who took an unintended ride in a SWISS plane from Athens to Zurich, surviving the ordeal and finding a new home in the process. Now, there's the equally cute tale of a small kangaroo who, likely attracted by the red roo logos of Qantas, showed up at Melbourne Airport.
The little guy wasn't there on vacay, however, but he actually hopped into a pharmacy in the terminal after suffering minor injuries from being hit by a car outside. After subduing the animal, airport workers kept him cozy in a Qantas blanket.
To update passengers and the curious on the incident, Qantas then took to their Instagram:
Cyrus the kangaroo rescued from Melbourne Airport yesterday is recovering well at a wildlife shelter. Volunteers are keeping a close eye on him as he is still recovering. Cyrus was named after our Airport Manager, Cyrus Irani, who helped keep him calm during the stressful ordeal.
It's a nice story, but we're left with the old idiom, "two is a coincidence while three is a trend," in our head. What airline will be next to encounter a cute animal in distress? Our bets are on Frontier finding a fox or one of the other woodland creatures pictured on their aircraft's tails.
