Lace 'Em Up! The Rink at Rockefeller Center Opens Today in New York City
We know, we know, it's not even Halloween yet, but doesn't today's opening of the Rink at the Rock just scream that Christmas is right around the corner? We've admitted in the past that it might be a tourist trap, yet that still doesn't stop the feelings from flowing when it comes to the charm of Rockefeller Center during the holidays.
Since this is no cheap novelty -- general admission adult skate prices start at $27 with an additional $12 for rentals -- you might consider making a day of it and picking up a SkySkate pass that allows you to go for a skate (with rentals included) and also visit the observation deck at the top of the Rock for $40. Tickets are available now, but only redeemable between January 8th and March 31st. Really want to get into the spirit? Fans of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular can combo orchestra seats to the show with a VIP skate pass for $100 during the month of November.
That said, we'll understand if you want to hold out for the chance to skate under the lights of the infamous Christmas tree, since the above packages bookend its lighting, which will take place on December 4th. It will be the most expensive time to skate at the Rock, but December is, after all, arguably the most enchanting time of the year to be in New York City. And if you're going to pony up and pay, you might as well do it right.
