Head to the Grocery Store to Celebrate Alabama's College Football Championship
In case you weren’t paying attention earlier in the week we wanted to fill you in on the status of this year’s BCS National Champion. When it comes to college football it looks like Alabama is the best in the land, as AJ McCarron—and his girlfriend—easily took down Notre Dame on Monday night.
Now that the analysis and highlights are over it’s time to celebrate and welcome the team back to town. Unlike the professional leagues it doesn’t look like there will be a victory parade, but there will be a chance to get up close and personal with the trophy.
The $30,000 Waterford Crystal AFCA National Championship Trophy is now going on a little bit of a tour, so fans down in Alabama can go and check it out in person. In past years tour stops have included visits to Walmart, but this year things are going a little higher end as the public appearances are taking place at the grocery store.
Dr. Pepper is sponsoring the little trophy tour, and the local news has the full rundown over here if you want to check things out. You just need to hurry up and plan your visit, as the trophy starts showing itself off starting on Friday. Up first is the Kroger on 7090 University Drive in Huntsville—it’ll do its thing there between 4pm and 8pm. After that it’s a couple more appearances for the trophy, as it’ll be on display at Academy Sports and Outdoors in Tuscaloosa on Saturday between noon and 4pm. Finally it’ll make its way over to Publix—another grocery store—between 11am and 3pm in Vestavia at 784 Montgomery Highway. If you’re heading out to check it out—enjoy—just keep it classy.
