The Miss Tourism International world final, according to the webpage, "is the ONLY New Year’s Eve pageant that plays host to more than 30 international beauty queens from around the world." Caps in the original, so you can be sure that it's true.
Joking aside, we're not sure what this is. It appears to be an annual stunt run by the Malaysia tourism board to highlight why Asia travel is worth your time. Wikipedia gives a specific agency that's ostensibly behind the contest, so that's potentially a useful data point. But Wikipedia also says that the contest isn't being run any more, which is a good reminder that everyone in the whole world gets to edit Wikipedia.
Anyway, we couldn't find any pictures or videos from this year's contest. There is however a gallery of the winner's pictures available on her Facebook page. In fairness to whoever arranged the contest, it's not the worst basis for visiting Southeast Asia travel we've ever run across.
