The Adventures of Travel Cat: La Fortuna, Costa Rica

September 5, 2012 at 12:54 PM | by | ()

Kitty cats. They rule the internet and, whether we realize it or not, pretty much the world too. Ever noticed how cats sometimes stake out the coolest spots in a city? This new feature—Travel Cat—focuses on exactly that. Submit a photo to be featured by tweeting or Instagramming it to us (details below).

Travel Cat spotted in: La Fortuna, Costa Rica.

This week's Travel Cat is from Jaunted twitter friend @megangh, who spotted this proud puss atop a restaurant table. Costa Rica suffered a magnitude-7.6 earthquake earlier today and, though there have been no reports of fatalities, it's still pretty scary.

Megan's story of this cat reflects quieter times:

I thought it was strange that stray dogs were allowed to roam into restaurants in Costa Rica. I found it even stranger that a restaurant in La Fortuna had a cat sitting on a table.

The next time we came in, I see the same cat on the same table. A man that worked there mentioned that his name was Caeser, they must save that table especially for him.

How to submit your own Travel Cat photo to be featured:
· Have a pic of a cute cat in an interesting world location.
· Tweet it to us @Jaunted with a few words on where you took the snap.
· OR Instagram it to us by posting the pic and including us (@Jaunted) and #TravelCat in the description
· Or you can always just email us the old-fashioned way.

If your kitty makes the cut, we'll feature it on Travel Cat (every Wednesday!) and link to your Twitter/Instagram/Facebook—whatever social network you get down with the most.

Cats named Caesar!

Funny thing, a few years ago, the town website of Kirkcudbright, Scotland, featured biographies of prominent local citizens, one of whom, Caesar, was listed as the "Official Town Cat"!
