The taste: Super crunchy and salty like popcorn, but with a consistency of puffed corn or rice snacks. They are waiting in a warmer to be scooped up so they are slightly toasty which creates a lighter consistency. Overall we liked them, but couldn't make it a regular treat to snack on.
The price: The price was just right at 1.50 SGD ($1.22 USD) with is about and make it a super easy and accessible snack. And since they are self-serve you can load the paper basket up if you really chose. We didn't want to be gluttonous.
Where to find it:It seems like these are a specially of the 7-11 chain. The machine is branded for the store as well as for the Quick Bites range. Natural, the convenience stores are found all over the city, but this one was in the ION Center on Orchard Road.
While queuing up, we noticed another interesting treat we have never seen before. A self-serve mashed potato and gravy machine. Just like the American 7-11s have nacho machines, this one serves up piping hot mashed potatoes all set with a side of gravy at the push of a button. But for this trip to the 24 hour snack shop, we stuck with our Craze Hottis, which we pronounce 'craze hotties' since we think its pretty fun.
If you'd like to share some of your foreign grocery finds, we'd love love love to see them. Send 'em on over via email here and snack on, my friends.
