And Now, Hot Waffles in an A380 at 38,000 Feet

Happy National Waffle Day! It's a real thing, we swear, and although we have no idea who makes these things up, we're not complaining. Instead, to honor this very important day and to draw attention to our new series on "Surprisingly Yummy Airline Meals," we conducted a little not-so-scientific poll on Twitter to discover who of you, our lovely readers, have actually licked their plate clean at altitude.

Your answers for airlines with cuisine that (pleasantly) surprised? Asiana, ANA, British Airways, Delta, Japan Airlines, LAN, Lufthansa, Thai Airways, and—as @jacksontalent so aptly put it—"you can never leave out Singapore Airlines!"

Indeed, we cannot leave out Singapore Airlines as they're the ones who actually go so far as to serve fresh waffles in flight. Believe it or not, that's them pictured above. We ordered the dish off the Business Class breakfast menu, flying between Singapore and Frankfurt earlier this year.

Three waffles, perfectly cooked and topped with butter, syrup, whip cream, plus cherries. We have good news and bad news about them, however. The bad news first: finishing them means you'll be too full to hit the breakfast buffet within the Lufthansa lounge at FRA (if on layover). The good news: you're eating toasty, tasty waffles at 38,000' and likely in an Airbus A380. THIS IS THE FUTURE.
