Pedal the Path of Joseph Gordon-Levitt from 'Premium Rush'

As the high-adrenaline action flick Premium Rush opens in theaters today, you'll probably never look at bike messengers in the same way.

Premium Rush follows New York City bike messenger Wilee (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) who picks up the wrong package—an envelope wanted by a dirty cop (Michael Shannon)—who then chases him across Manhattan.

If a (slightly slower) bike ride through NYC seems like a good idea to you too, there are several tour companies, like Bike The Big Apple, that offer bike tours (at a much slower pace). Bike The Big Apple has tours every day of the week except Wednesday, which bring visitors through Queens, The Bronx, over the Brooklyn Bridge, through Central Park, and into nearly a dozen other locations around the city.

Most tours cost between $85-$99 and can be booked at bikethebigapple.com.

If you'd rather go off the beaten path on your own, there are plenty of bike rental businesses around New York too, including Bike and Roll with locations all over Manhattan. Rental prices range from $15 to $44 for a full day. You can reserve a bike in advance at www.bikenewyorkcity.com, just remember not to pick up any strange packages.
