Stuff You Should Totally Do This Weekend in NYC, Chicago, and SF

Chicago's Air & Water Show

New York City:

Ever want to do the Charleston and carry a parasol and not give a damn what anyone else thinks because it's just awesome? Well, head on over to Governor's Island this weekend, both Saturday and Sunday, for the Jazz Age Lawn Party. Hosted twice a summer by Michael Arenella & His Dreamland Orchestra, the event sees hundreds dressed up in their finest 1920s garb for picnicking, cocktails, classic car viewing, some shopping vintage accessories and, of course, dancing!

Tickets are $15 per person, per day, purchasable at the entrance to the Lawn Party. More info right here. We're actually going to this, so see you there?

Chicago:

Sure, the Oshkosh Airshow is super and all, but it doesn't have the water action of Chicago's annual Air & Water Show, taking place this weekend over the northshore beaches. Viewing is best done from the vicinity of North Avenue Beach and Oak Street Beach. Performers include the F/A-18 Hornets of the US Navy Blue Angels, parachute teams from both the Army—the Golden Knights—and the Navy—the Leap Frogs, Kirby Chambliss in the Red Bull Edge 540, and the Aeroshell Aerobatic Team.

Best of all, the event is free, earplugs and sunglasses optional.

San Francisco:

Tickets to the Outside Lands Festival last weekend sold out, so if you missed that, don't worry because it's like every weekend is some sort of food fest. This weekend, it's La Cocina's Street Food Festival, featuring over 70 vendors selling their bits and bites for a few dollars. FunCheapSF has a little guide of what not to miss at the large event.

Entry is free at Folsom and 24th Street, though and food runs between $2-$8 per truck.
