· Frequent Flyer-knowledge excuse:
If you're dealing with a boss or client who knows their air travel and maybe rank as frequent flyers themselves, then it's time to appeal to their know-it-all side. It's also likely they know your itinerary, so switch your flights at the airport and blame the delayed arrival on being held up by TSA and encountering a notorious long run from security to the gate. Oopsyou "missed" that flight; just have to take the one that coincides with happy hour.
· The "everybody-has-been-there" excuse:
You were bumped. Instead of that early morning flight, the airline moved you to the next flight with a free seat, which just happened to be during the far more convenient (for you) evening hours.
