A Few Excuses for Delaying a Return from Vacation

So you want to take a later flight or stay an extra day on vacation? Let's think of some excuses involving air travel for you to use, so long as you're aware that blasting your fun on social media could ruin everything.

· Best excuse:
President Obama made you late thanks to an Air Force One landing. This can be easily checked with a Google search to see where Obama spoke that day, but if you're lucky and experience the real thing, that 2pm arrival time could turn into 4pm...and then there's just no point to go to work, right?

· Easiest excuse:
The flight was full and they asked for volunteers. You gave up your seat for a pregnant woman. Easy-peasy.

· Frequent Flyer-knowledge excuse:
If you're dealing with a boss or client who knows their air travel and maybe rank as frequent flyers themselves, then it's time to appeal to their know-it-all side. It's also likely they know your itinerary, so switch your flights at the airport and blame the delayed arrival on being held up by TSA and encountering a notorious long run from security to the gate. Oops—you "missed" that flight; just have to take the one that coincides with happy hour.

· The "everybody-has-been-there" excuse:
You were bumped. Instead of that early morning flight, the airline moved you to the next flight with a free seat, which just happened to be during the far more convenient (for you) evening hours.
