Cirque du Soleil's OVO Heads Overseas to Dazzle Down Under

The yellow and blue big top has been packed up to get more passport stamps. Cirque du Soleil's newest traveling show, OVO, has opened up shop for the start of its international tour. First stop, Brisbane.

After 3 years of ooh-ing and ahh-ing audiences around the US, Canada and Mexico, the creative minds behind the bug-themed circus show have launched their world tour. Bringing the insect world to life with bright colors, acrobatics, contortionists and the signature Cirque clowns, they seek to make it an escape (for a few brief hours) from the real world.

The show itself is a delight for the senses. From the colors of the costumes to the sounds of the jungle and even the sweet scent of flowers, all play with the on-lookers as the big top transforms into a virtual living jungle. Of course, all of the sensory tickling serves as a backdrop to the athleticism and strength the performers possess.

We talked with the production manager, Rob Naumann, who noted that this is "his favorite show at the moment and is designed to have each audience member leaving happy with a smile on their face."

Marking the 25th show in 25 years, OVO will be touring around Oz for the next year stopping in major cities throughout the country. Don't fret if your travels aren't bringing you Australia soon; we are assured the show will be visiting Asia, Japan, South and Central America.

Disclaimer: We were guests of Cirque du Soleil, but all of our amazement and opinions are our own.

Wow... just wow

This show was my first Cirque du Soleil and it blew my mind. I'm disappointed I missed so many of their shows in the past, but I'll not miss one in the future. The showmanship and acrobatic ability of the performers were spectacular, these performers should be getting the salary of movie stars.
