Porsche to Hit the Rental Car Lots for the Very First Time

July 16, 2012 at 9:42 AM | by | Comments (5)

UPDATE: It seems that Hertz falsely claimed to be the first agency to rent Porsches, when Enterprise has been doing it in select places for 5 years. So really Hertz will just be the first with the Panamera model.

We know that they are plenty of awesome rental cars kicking around out there, but it looks like Hertz is adding something pretty sweet to their rental car collection. It’s not a convertible or a true super car, but we’ll take any flavor Porsche that’s offered up at the airport rental car lot.

As part of their Prestige Collection of vehicles, Hertz is bringing the Porsche Panamera into their stables. It’s the first time a rental car company in the United States is adding a Porsche as a regular rental option, so if the monthly payment is totally out of reach maybe you can afford to score one for just the weekend.

Right now there’s no mention of the vehicle on the Hertz website, so we don’t know exactly when the new cars will be rolling onto the lots. It sounds like it should be sooner rather than later, and California, Nevada and Florida will be the first markets to score the sweet rides. Weekend days might set you back as much as $250 per day, but we truly wonder if you can put a price on the Porsche experience.

Again, the Panamera—it’s their four-door model—will be the only option initially offered up; however, we can’t help but wonder if this partnership will bring even more sports cars to the rental car fleet. In the interim, we’ll be dreaming of picking up a 911 Turbo at LAX and heading up the coast.

Um, not the "Very First Time"

You guys need to do better fact checking. Hertz at LAX previously rented the Boxster. And branches of Hertz and Budget in Beverly Hills have rented Porsches for years...

special cases

The Bev Hills and LAX cases are special. This article is about them becoming regular options at more than a single lot here and there.

Misleading

Well that's not what the title or your article implies. But I guess reporting with accuracy isn't really something you're interested in.

Enterprise rents Porsche

Enterprise Rent-A-Car also rents out Porsche vehicles.

Confirmed!

So it seems the news was wrong on this. Hertz had a huge claim that they were the first to rent out Porsches, but Enterprise countered today that Porsches have been part of their Exotics collection for five years. http://blog.northjersey.com/business/917/enterprise-claims-porsche-rental-crown/ Brain fart.
