· When's Camp:
Last year things got a little screwed up thanks to the labor dispute and all that bickering back and forth between the owners and the players. However, this year things look a little more straightforward. Practices are scheduled to start up on July 26, and the players will do their thing—ensuring that they’re firing on all cylinders—through August 15. Most practices take place at 1pm, but of course everything is subject to change.
· Where's Camp:
This year things return to the University of Albany, after the team stayed a little closer to home in 2011. This is the 16th summer that the New York Giants will visit the state’s capital region, which makes it the team’s preferred training camp location. In the past as many as 40,000 fans have attended during the summer months, but we’re thinking 2012 might just break the prior attendance record.
· What's it Cost:
All the details haven’t been released as of yet, but in the past checking out training camp has been free to one and all. That’s a pretty good deal considering you’re able to spy on the Super Bowl champions before the season even begins. It’s the perfect opportunity for fans to come out and support the team—while attempting to score a couple of autographs—without breaking the bank on a regular season ticket.
· What Else: [Photo of training camp past: MattCC716]
The Giants don’t seem to have a dedicated fan day or any other hoopla following their training camp dates, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be a chance to do show Victor Cruz your best dance moves. We’d continue to follow their official site to stay up to date as further details are released. Of course we’re pretty sure that plenty of Giants swag will make its way upstate, so bring plenty of spending cash if you’re looking for a Super Bowl champions shirt or just one of those oversized foam fingers.
