Get Some Seaplane Action This Summer on Tropic Oceans Airways

Usually we think of Vancouver when we hear about seaplanes flying to here and there, but apparently we’ve been missing out on Florida when it comes to the planes with pontoons. We just noticed the Sunshine State’s only true seaplane airline, so we figured that we ought to share it with you.

If we recall correctly, there was an episode of Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami that featured the duo flying around South Beach, but that was a different charter operation. What we’re excited about is the regularly scheduled service offered up by Tropic Oceans Airways.

They’re flying scheduled flights between North Bimini over in the Bahamas to both the seaplane airport in Miami and the regular airport in Ft. Lauderdale. If those destinations aren’t really on your to-do list—don’t worry—as they’d also gladly schedule a charter to send you down to Key West or a number of other South Florida destinations.

For those thinking that this is something that they’d love to experience—like us—the fares really aren’t that crazy. Just remember that this is hardly like flying aboard an Airbus or Boeing, so just be sure not to chicken out before handing over the credit card digits. Flights in July from Miami to the Bahamas take just over 30 minutes and will set you back around $180 each way, so that’s kind of a deal considering that the flight is part of the overall experience.
