Airports from Dublin to Delhi to Have 787 Dreamliners When Etihad Gets 'Em Delivered

As more 787s begin to roll off the assembly line there’s plenty of carriers prepping their planes for new routes. Even when the deliveries are years away, the airlines are just like us—they enjoying dreaming. Etihad is the latest to think about the future, and they’re already itching to share their plans.

When the planes do finally arrive in late 2014 it looks like they’ll be flying to spots like Dublin, Frankfurt, Kuala Lumpur, Beijing, Delhi, and Istanbul. Of course all those places will be served from the airline’s base over in Abu Dhabi. That’s probably just the beginning of the new options, because the carrier has like 40 orders for the new plane and the option to pick up another 25 or so. Maybe that means that one of the new birds will find its way over to the US, and of course we might be a little bit partial to see a scheduled flight to and from New York.

No other details have really been spilled at this point, but it does look like they’ll be doing the flying with a three-class cabin. Etihad and Boeing do sound like they have a couple new technology tidbits or creature comfort surprises up their sleeves, but for now we think that a lot of the finishing touches are still firmly stuck on the drawing board.
