'Iron Man 3' to Make Wilmington, NC the Comic Geek Capitol of the World

Forget San Diego, the ultimate comic geek destination this summer will be Wilmington, N.C.

With The Avengers already in theaters, the next flick in the mega Marvel movie franchise is about to start shooting.

Iron Man 3 is set to begin filming in Wilmington any day now. The movie's star, Robert Downey Jr., has even been spotted around town.

The majority of the shoot will take place at Wilmington's EUE Screen Gems Studios, though one additional location has already been revealed. Iron Man 3 plans to spend all day filming at the Cape Fear Club on Chestnut Street in Wilmington on May 29th.

North Carolina residents will also have the unique opportunity to appear on screen as extras in the third Iron Man film, which also goes by the working title Caged. The movie's casting company has set up a Facebook page where locals can get more information or register. You can check it out at Facebook.com/CagedHeatCasting.
