Allegiant Air, JetBlue and Southwest Bring This Week's New Routes

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Allegiant Air:
It hasn’t been too long since we last heard about Allegiant Air and their plans for Hawaii, but they’re already looking for more. The ultra low-cost carrier is going all in with their service to and from the Aloha State, and they just announced like five new tropical nonstop options. Bellingham, Washington; Eugene, Oregon; Santa Maria, California; and Stockton, California are all getting nonstop flights right over to Honolulu.

However, that’s not the end of their new route news, as they’re also flying right into Maui from Bellingham, Washington. All the new routes start just in time for the holiday season—like between November 14 and 18—and the initial fares can be had for as low as $159 each way.

· Frontier:
We used to get really excited over Frontier Airlines and their new route news, but now that we know that there’s no chance to score a free chocolate chip cookie, it’s just not the same. Regardless of how we feel deep inside, we’ll fulfill our due diligence by letting you know that the animal-tailed airline will be heading nonstop between Denver International Airport and Great Falls International Airport—that’s in Montana in case you didn’t know. The new flights started doing their thing earlier this week, and now they’ll continue to do so four times per week throughout the summer months. It’s Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, and all the flying will be done via the carrier’s WiFi-enabled Embraer 190s.

· JetBlue:
If there’s one airline that we just can’t resist when it comes to new route news, it’s JetBlue. This week they’re flying somewhere that they’ve been before, but it’s a brand new city pair that has us dreaming of weekend getaways for some fun in the sun. Nonstop between West Palm Beach, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico is now available, and JetBlue is even celebrating with a little bit of an airfare sale.

They’re selling seats for as little as $93 each way, but just be sure to enter those credit cards on or before May 25 to take advantage of the introductory offer. There’s plenty of connection opportunities through West Palm Beach as well, so using the new flight as a connection option might be just what you need.

· Virgin America:
Earlier in the week we might have mentioned some news about Virgin America, and we may or may not have mentioned that they might just been looking to head over to Hawaii. While that information has yet to be confirmed, there is a little bit of news about one of the country’s best carriers looking to expand in and out of Washington Reagan National Airport. Austin, Portland, San Francisco, and San Juan will all be heading to and from the airport now that Uncle Sam has provided the necessary approval to do so, though Virgin will only claim the SFO route. Unfortunately the flights aren’t exactly available for booking just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep an eye out for when the tickets are loaded into the system. Until then there’s always the option to fly out of Washington-Dulles.

· Southwest:
They certainly have a long way to go to catch up with JetBlue in and out of Boston, but Southwest Airlines is trying their best by adding a new route to and from Beantown. One of the country’s original discount carriers is planning to link Nashville and Boston starting on August 12. The plan is to fly one nonstop round trip each and every day, and that’s going to compliment Southwest’s other nonstop routes out of Boston like St. Louis, Phoenix, and Baltimore—just to name a couple. We understand that this might not be one of the world’s most interesting routes, but if you’ve never been to Nashville—or Boston—it might just be what you need for a half way decent weekend trip.
