Instagram Your Best 'Untamed Americas' Shot to Win a Prize Pack from National Geographic and Jaunted

C'mon—everybody knows that some of the coolest contests out there these days are on Instagram, the photo-sharing mobile app, and now we're thrilled to join 'em. In partnership with the National Geographic Channel to celebrate their coming epic 4-part series "Untamed Americas," we'll be helping you win a load of photography equipment and some spiffy Nat Geo swag.

All you've got to do is submit a photo to Instagram that, for you, defines "Untamed Americas." Okay, you have to do a couple more things as well, and they're detailed below.

Your intrepid Editor here at Jaunted, Cynthia Drescher, will judge the submissions along with Nat Geo WILD’s "America the Wild" Casey Anderson and landscape photographer Cole Rise. We're looking for the theme of "Untamed Americas," creativity, originality and (of course) photographic quality.

This does not mean upload an old photo you shot with a real camera, because I think we all know that images like that end up with a slight, but noticeable, pixelation. Instead, this is a chance to show off what you can do on your mobile, truly out in nature (until you return to WiFi to post the photo). It can be from your travels or your own backyard, so long as it's submitted by June 18.

How to enter:

· Follow @natgeochannels on Instagram (and @jaunted, for good measure, but not required)
· Upload your original, previously unpublished photo of what "Untamed Americas" means to you.
· Only submit one photo, and add the #UntamedAmerica tag.
· Do so before June 18, 2012.
· Check back for weekly updates on the contest (like this one), and special features to get you psyched for the premiere of "Untamed Americas" on June 10 & 11.

What you'll win:

A National Geographic camera bag, stuffed full with a Nikon D3100 SLR Digital Camera with 18-55mm VR & 55-200mm VR Lenses & basic kit; a subscription to National Geographic Magazine; one Glif stand for better iPhoneography; one Untamed Americas Kit including a National Geographic Jacket, Hat, Water Bottle, Binoculars and complete DVD of the series; and one limited edition signed print by Cole Rise.
