In business class, Virgin takes a page from the book of Singapore Airlines, its partner in the sky. In fact, it has completely taken their premium seats, which means Virgin is offering a completely lie-flat option for its transcontinental service. The planes will also be flying on the high traffic Melbourne-to-Sydney routes.
The secret bonus to the overhaul is that now the business class will have a 2-2-2 layout. No dreaded middle seat!
Meanwhile, in economy, passengers will reap the benefits of the upgrade with a USB port to charge up devices while in flight. Of course Virgin's signature "Red" entertainment system is available to all passengers.
Speaking of devices, the airline is also piloting the use of new Samsung Galaxy tablets Business class passengers can trial the technology for free, and eventually, economy passengers will be able to join them...for a charge. In-flight wifi will be coming at a later date.
Now the upgrade fun doesn't stop when the plane gets to the gate. Virgin is also overhauling their terminals and lounges in Sydney and Melbourne to increase capacity and amenities. More space for planespotting! SCORE.
