Alaska Airlines Has Sweet New Digs at LAX
Better double check those airport departure and arrival signs if you’re off to LAX anytime soon, as there’s a couple carriers on the move. The biggest news comes from Alaska Airlines, as they just cut the ribbon to welcome travelers to their renovated and rehabbed Terminal 6.
The airline is calling their new terminal home the “Airport of the Future.” We probably wouldn’t go that far—especially since there’s no place to park your flying car—but the new upgraded space does look pretty darn nice.
The big change within the terminal is how you’ll go about checking-in for your flight, and that obviously assumes that you’ve haven’t already done so online. When you arrive at the terminal the traditional check-in counters are few and far between, as they’ve been replaced with circular pods that have touchscreen computers ready to go to assist you through the check-in process.
After that, just head over to the bag-check station, and you’ll be able to wave goodbye to your bag and wave hello to the security line.
Alaska Airlines is promising a shorter walk to security due to their new location, plenty of electrical outlets within the terminal, easier access to international connections, and one of the best customer experiences in the entire country. Construction has been going on for just over a year, and in total the airline—along with the airport authority—spent like $238 million making the terminal a great place to be. There’s even a brand new Board Room—that’s their name for their airport lounges—so be sure to check that out as well if you have the right credentials.
We’ll hold our final opinion until we get to check out the place in person, but it does look pretty snazzy.
