Have You Ever Forgotten an Entire Country Existed?

Embarrassing admission: we kinda, sorta forgot about Brunei. Like, we forgot it was still a country and instead thought it had gone the way of "Burma" (now Republic of Myanmar) or something. That is, we had forgotten about Brunei until it popped up on our seatback television, on the Airshow map of what we were flying over, going from Hong Kong to Denpasar-Bali.

There it was, in all its itty-bitty glory, in all its 400,000+ population surrounded by Indonesia and Malaysia and we were flying through its itty-bitty airspace.

And now, thanks to this small brush with a small country, we can't get Brunei out of our mind. It's just gone from "Brunei? that's still around?" to "Brunei, yeah I'm looking into flights." Of course they do have their own airline—Royal Brunei Airlines—with whom we've not had the most positive of past experiences.

Still, Brunei calls itself the "Abode of Peace" and the current Sultan's full name (according to Wikipedia—is Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muizzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam. How can you not want to go?!
