It's Been Four Years and We Just Can't Forget SkyBus

Like all major historical events, we’ll always remember where we were and what we were doing the day that SkyBus died. We were actually just turning on the Today show—still in bed—to the news that the crazy cheap carrier was boarding up shop and getting out of the airline business. Like so many others, we were left with cancelled reservations (from North Carolina to Southern California), a bummer considering we'd just tested out SkyBus only a few weeks before the bankruptcy.

This month marks the four-year anniversary (April 4, 2008) of the bankruptcy and, unfortunately, that trip now only lives on in our memories. Hey, at least we got to try SkyBus before it went belly up. Rising fuel costs and a cash flow that was more of a trickle made for the downfall of the airline.

In remembrance of SkyBus' large hopes and dreams (but small pockets and bank accounts), we wanted to take a look back through the Jaunted archives. So feel free to pass a little bit of your Friday by checking out a few snapshots from our trip from Greensboro, North Carolina to Chicopee, Massachusetts from early 2008. Sure it wasn’t the most luxurious experience—and you had to pay for drinks—but the new planes and nearly free airfare could make us overlook pretty much anything.

We still miss you SkyBus; may you rest in peace.

Will work for tips!

I couldn't get mad at the $2 8oz bottle of water or request for tips (yep, really) because the $10 fare from Newburgh to North Carolina was just phenomenal!
