"I didn't know anything about it and I thought Oh My God the plane is going down!," he said. "I was all frantic so I look behind me, to look at the other passengers, and who do I see, Joan Rivers, and she's just sitting there staring at me."
"I thought she was horrified, but maybe that's just the way she looks," he quipped, referring to Rivers' many plastic surgeries.
And, being famous, he immediately began thinking about what his legacy would be if the plane did go down.
"I thought, 'this is it, I'm going down with Joan Rivers'," Wesley continued. "All the news clippings would be 'Paul Wesley and Joan Rivers go down in Toronto', I would be forever associated with Joan Rivers."
Rivers had her own take on the lightning strike. "I just landed on a plane from L.A. that was struck by lightning," she tweeted. "Thank God everyone is fine. I now think Benjamin Franklin was an ass!"
