One Coachella Down and One To Go

Coachella is dead! Long live Coachella!

As the first year that the desert music festival is doubled to cover to weekends, 2012 seems to be thinning the buzz. THANK GOD. Hey, we love Coachella and everything, but now that festival-goers can chose from weekends, all the social media madness from Indio, California is now spread out. Alas, there were a few things that went down these last three days to put Coachella into the national conscious (and get people psyched for 2013--jeez).

To start, H&M staged a "Kiss for a Cause" tent, which served three purposes: one, for every tweet or instagram you did using their hashtag, H&M would donate $1 to AIDS research; two, H&M used some of the photobooth puckers on their own streams, making a few good-looking folks mini-famous for the day; and three, everybody got to see what everybody else was wearing in the hot weather (answer: fringed leather vests & faux-navajo prints).

Next, as much as everyone was looking forward to hearing The Black Keys, Radiohead and Bon Iver, it still seems like oldie-but-goodies Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg ended up with the most pre-performance rumors and hype and, in general, the largest crowd and most love.

Heading to Coachella on the second weekend upcoming? Here's the beauty of the split schedule: all this will happen again, copied, and the second weekenders will be much better prepared. Packed that why-the-hell-did-I-buy-this-oh-but-it's-perfect-for-Coachella frayed midriff top? Ready to stand in the sun for hours lining up for a good standing spot for Snoop? You've got a weekend's worth of #Coachella tweets to sift through for tips.

Basically, our conclusion: the second weekend is the time to go. Remember that for 2013, unless it becomes a three-weekender!
