This Week's New Routes Star Air France, Aeromexico and More

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Air France:
You know we’re suckers when it comes to the comings and goings of the Airbus A380, and that’s why we’re excited to hear about Air France and their latest plans for the big bird. Beginning on April 1—no joke here—the double-decker jumbo jet will be heading from Paris all the way over to Singapore.

Initially the thinking is that these planes will do their thing about three times per week, but depending on how many butts the airline can get in the seats it’s always subject to change. It seems like the Airbus A380 is now pretty much flying everywhere and anywhere, so it might just be a matter of time before it shows up at your favorite airport—well, maybe.

· United:
Now that they’re pretty much combined into one big happy airline family, it’s time for United Airlines to get back to business. This week the pencil pushers and bean counters have decided to bring in a new route for United, and this one is heading between San Francisco and Washington—Reagan.

The new option is scheduled to arrive on May 15, and all the flying fun will be done thanks to some of the airlines’ Boeing 737 jets. The flights will run each and every day of the week, and it’s an early flight out to SFO—leaving at 8am—and an afternoon return—around 1pm—heading back to DCA. There’s plenty of options between the greater DC area and the Bay Area, but this is the first nonstop between these two airports from United.

· Aeromexico:
If you’re thinking about Mexico it’s usually a pretty good idea to think about Aeromexico. The carrier is looking to increase and expand its options to and from the United States, and this week it looks like they’re busy planning some new flights. Starting this summer—like May 21 to be specific—planes will be flying nonstop between Mexico City and Washington-Dulles.

The flights will be done with Boeing 737s and will head back and forth each and every day of the week. That’s not all either, as Aeromexico is also thinking about bringing some seasonal service between New York-JFK and Cancun through the end of August. Just be sure to remember the sunblock.

· Turkish Airways:
So you might not want to add this one to the must visit list just yet, but if you’ve ever dreamed—or had a nightmare—about traveling to Mogadishu now’s the time to do so. Earlier this week Turkish Airways started flying in and out of Somalia’s capital, and this is the first time an international commercial carrier has done so in like 20 years.

For now the flights are scheduled to head back and forth just two times of week, and all the flights start off from Turkey's Ataturk airport. We’re just passing along this information, and we’re hardly endorsing this as the premier choice for your Spring Break 2012 destination.

· US Airways:
It’s not some new groundbreaking international nonstop option, but we can always respect even the smallest of new route announcements. This week there’s some new regional service thanks to US Airways, as the carrier is looking to link Jackson, Mississippi with Washington, DC.

The new nonstop is done with a little help from Republic Airlines and their Embraer 170s. US Airways didn’t stop there, as they also just started up some nonstop flights from Charlotte to and from Salt Lake City using some of their in-house Airbus A320s. Again, not the most exciting options in new route news, but we’re sure they’ll get you where you need to be sooner or later.
