Foursquare Needs Your Help to Award the Next 15 World City Badges
Have you had heard enough of Foursquare's newest city badges? Toughthe flood is only just beginning as Foursquare announced yesterday that a slew of fresh world badges is on the horizon, via an international contest. There's 15 new badges up for grabs, and Foursquare wants to bestow them upon three cities each in Africa, the Americas (minus the U.S.), Asia, Europe and Oceania.
Alas, the prize for winning isn't monetary; just fill up a list of the favorite things in a city and, if it's really good, it'll earn that city its very won Foursquare badge. You have until March 23 to list the cool stuff, but the news of the contest also comes with this exciting tidbit:
"Bangkok, Rio, Buenos Aires, Amsterdam and Jakarta: we already have badges planned for your cities in the near future (yay!)."
Yay indeed! Now, how to submit? Here you go, straight from Foursquare:
1. Create a list at foursquare.com/lists. Make sure to include the name of your city and the #4sqCities hashtag in the name.
2. Add your favorite places! Aim for about 40-50 (and no more than 70) of your town’s best places. Include a variety of spots, from restaurants and bars, to parks, monuments, and local businesses. Give your list some love by adding tips and photos!
3. When you’re done, encourage your friends to follow the list (or even help you make it) by sharing it on foursquare, Twitter, and Facebook.
4. Submit your list by sharing it on twitter with the hashtag #4sqCities by March 23. You can share your tweet with us here.
Notice that there is still no mention of a Hong Kong badge, and Scandinavia hasn't seen any love. Hint hint.
