After a long day in Tokyo, he checked in to one of Tokyo's famous Capsule Hotels—where guests stay in small, stacked cubicles—which Karl likened to a morgue. After leaving Tokyo, Karl took the train to Kakunodate, where he gagged on some traditional sushi that had been fermenting for years. Karl's guide was laughing so hard while watching him try to choke down a bite of this delicacy that he had tears in his eyes. "My taste buds have been mugged," Karl told the camera later that night. Guess the joke was on Karl, again.

After recovering from his fermented fish experience, Karl headed out to Kyoto to visit a Zen Buddhist Monk. He thought he'd be meditating, but instead they had him cleaning. When they did finally get around to meditation, the monk began beating Karl with a stick. The monk was giggling like a schoolgirl the entire time, a clear indication that the stunt was only for the cameras.

Before bed, Karl took part in a tea ritual which had him waxing philosophical about the power of tea. "I can't speak their language but we both have a connection, we both like a cup of tea," Karl said. "And that's what tea does, doesn't it? It brings people together."

In one final attempt to torture Karl, Ricky sent him to the Fuji-Q Highland Amusement Park, located at the base of Mount Fuji, where he had to ride one of the world's tallest roller coasters. It looks like the coaster would have amazing views from the top, but Karl was too terrified to open his eyes.

Finally, the season ended on a high note as Karl forced himself to make it to the top of Mount Fuji. He finally reached the summit at 5:00 AM (after hiking all night in the dark) and declared, "I completed it...but I feel like shit."

Karl did have one major revelation in Japan; he wants to invent something. His idea, called Pilko Pants, are inflatable pants to give travelers some cushion when they can't find a comfortable chair. We can't wait to see Karl wear them in An Idiot Abroad season 3.
