New Planes and New Routes from Lufthansa, Frontier and easyJet

Sometimes it’s hard to stay on top of all the new route announcements that come our way, so we’ve complied a little bit of a rundown below. As long as you can afford the fares, this should definitely help add to your passport stamp collection.

· Lufthansa:
Boeing’s biggest bird is on its way to the United States, as the 747-8 is scheduled to make its debut between Frankfurt and Washington-Dulles International Airport sooner than later. Lufthansa is the lucky airline getting the very first one of these planes for commercial service, and it sounds like the delivery might happen as soon as the end of April.

We’re thinking that Lufthansa will want a little time to play around with their new toy—maybe some quick hops in and around Europe—but soon after it’ll be heading to the nifty fifty. The new 747 is longer than the A380 and pretty darn sexy—for an airplane—so we can’t wait to see it for the first time.

· easyJet:
They originally announced their intention to head to Iceland late last year, but now it’s finally time for easyJet to start doing its thing. The new flights started up earlier this week, as the low cost carrier will connect London’s Luton Airport with Reykjavik. The new flights do their thing three times per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. It might not be short sleeve weather over in Iceland just yet, but it’s never too chilly to check out the Blue Lagoon.

· Frontier:
New options are arriving between Madison, Wisconsin and Washington, DC, as it sounds like Frontier Airlines is getting ready to send some more planes between the two cities.

The airline already flies between the two spots a few times each week, but once June 7 rolls around the flights will be a daily option. To celebrate Frontier is offering $100 one-way fares, and that includes most of the mandatory taxes and fees. The increased flight options will do their with Embraer 190s, and if our in-flight entertainment memory is correct—that means live television is an option!

· British Airways:
Sure London is a pretty good pick if you’re looking to head overseas, but after some time you might be eager to check out a different spot in Europe. That’s why we’re happy to hear that British Airways is planning some new flights over to Venice, Italy, and they’re even launching the flights from the easily accessible London City Airport.

Starting on September 17 this year, the carrier will be heading between the two cities six times per week thanks to some assistance from their Embraer E190s. Let’s just hope that all the low cost carrier competition keeps the airfare on this route somewhat affordable.

· Turkish Airlines:
There must be some pretty good souvenirs at the airports in Iraq, because it looks like there’s a need for even more flights in and out of the country. Turkish Airlines has been flying to Iraq for some time now, but things must be going pretty well.

They’re planning to double their flights to and from Baghdad up to two flights per day beginning over the summer. There’s also an increase of flights between Istanbul and Erbil starting around the middle of April, as the airplanes will go from a daily option to like 11 weekly flights. Might just be the perfect time cross Iraq off the travel bucket list.
