With a lot of taunting of initial fares under $150, inclusive of tax, each way from Singapore to, either Sydney or Gold Coast in Australia, the final price was revealed. Our friends down under at Australian Business Traveler dropped the news as soon as Scoot did. And the big reveal! $88 each way, inclusive of tax and fees.
Now, we've talked about before, this is for a seat on the plane only and no baggage allowance or a meal, called Fly. If you need to pack some souvenirs in the belly of the plane, the FlyBag ticket price would increase to a modest $110. Finally, if you just need to eat airplane food, the cost of a FlyBagEat ticket jumps to $123.
Scoot is still an LCC and, naturally, incidentals will force you to shell out a bit more. If your flying on the FlyBag option and tip the scales, each 5kg will cost $8; up to 15kg where the cost jumps to $16. Irrespective of fare, if you want to choose where you sit, plan for an additional $4. Maybe legroom is your thing, an extra 4 inches for your knees will cost an extra $60 for a 35 inch pitch.
A super exciting part of the launch is introductory business class fares for $388 each way. Along with a cushy seat, all of the bells and whistles are included, checked baggage up to 20kg, meals, complimentary in-flight iPad, and an amenity kit.
Flights officially start taking off from Singapore on June 26th with daily flights to Sydney and 5 times weekly to the Gold Coast. If you are travelling to the region this summer and want to check out a new airline, scoot on over to Scoot and get your tickets, because this will not last long.
