Not Even Spider-Man Can Escape Disney

We heard that Mickey Mouse was pretty interested in purchasing the rights to some comic book characters, and now it sounds as if superheroes could be joining him at Disney theme parks around the globe.

Disney gobbled up the rights to much of the Marvel universe, and now plans to add the characters to the parks is on the drawing board. Head mouse in charge—Bob Iger—recently told shareholders that superheroes like Spider-Man might just be making an appearance at the company’s theme parks sooner rather than later.

The creative folks at the company have already started to draw and sketch preliminary design work and the next steps would probably be bringing ideas off the drawing board and into the flesh (or animatronics?). There’s already a new cartoon—Ultimate Spider-Man—planned for one of Disney’s cable channels, so it looks like they’ve begun getting the little ones prepared to see caped crusaders alongside Mickey, Donald and Goofy.

Unfortunately there's no confirmation regarding when exactly the superheroes are slated to arrive in the parks, nor do we know exactly when it’s going to happen. For now it sounds like Disney is more than focused on getting their Avatar dreams up and running down in Florida, and after that it might just be time to sling a web.
