The Boeing 787 World Tour Carries On Across The Americas

We’re already almost half way through March, and that means that Boeing and the 787 Dreamliner have almost completed their around the world tour to show off the latest and greatest in new airplane technology. Things have been busy at airports across North America, as in the last few weeks the new bird has touched down to show if its goods in places like Boston, Toronto, Mexico City, and San Diego. However, there’s still plenty of places for the plane to check out before it heads onto its next destination.

Peyton Manning might not be around to visit the plane in the Arizona desert, but Boeing is scheduled to visit various suppliers, including folks from Honeywell along with Boeing employees. You’re probably going to need to know a friend of a friend to get up close and personal with the plane, but it still might be worth doing a little airplane stalking to score a glimpse of it from afar. After Phoenix the plane will take a quick trip over to Long Beach, California to again meet with employees and others involved with the creation and construction of the 787.

To end the week, the 787 and its roadies will swing by Salt Lake City to show off the goods, but again this is mostly just for those that are somehow connected to plane—so no random airplane fans will be invited to check things out.

Boeing hasn’t revealed the full schedule for the next set of stops on the 787’s tour, but we do know that the plane and its crew will be heading to South America sooner than later. It sounds like the 787 will be doing its thing beginning around March 27, as it scheduled to swing in for a visit at the International Air and Space Fair known as FIDAE—that’s in Chile.

LAN will be on hand to show off the plane and its bits and pieces to the public, and there will even be a chance to look at LAN’s plans for the 787 and their custom interior. It might not be totally worth it to visit Chile just for a chance to see the 787, but if you’re in the neighborhood it’s prime time for plane spotting
