Pan Am's Season One Finale Was Likely Its Final Flight

The future doesn't look very bright for ABC's Pan Am. The show's season one finale attracted only 3.9 million viewers, the lowest in its time slot. So, after spending the past few weeks on the bubble, it looks like Sunday's dismal ratings guarantee the show won't be returning.

Now, with our favorite prime-time travel series kaput, we're hoping the networks will have something new travelers can look forward to in the fall season.

Here's a look at the top 3 most promising pilot shows for armchair adventurers:

The NBC drama The Frontier has some possibilities for the travel-obsessed. It certainly won't be as glamorous as Pan Am, but it will follow a group of travelers as they chase their dreams west from Missouri in the 1840s.

Shelter, from producer J.J. Abrams, sounds like it could offer some travel-inspiration. The drama is set at an historic New England summer resort, though it will most likely be shot in Los Angeles.

The pilot with the most potential to attract jet-setters will most likely be Nashville. The family soap will be set and shot in the Tennessee city and revolves around a star at her peak and another on the rise. There won't be much actual travel in the series, but if it is a hit it promises to make Nashville a tourism star.

Pan Am

I was wondering what was the fate of this show (or how well it was received by Americans)...it was on Swedish TV for a while here in Norway, but it appeared to get taken off quickly!
