If ever you needed proof that Valentine’s Day is over-commercialized, a trip to London-Heathrow Airport will set you right. Flying out from Terminal 5 this weekend, the Duty Free shop was on high V-Day alert, with mini gift brochures, screens telling us what perfumes would make a great present, and—the icing on the cake—a free Valentine’s card with every purchase.
The cards, at least, were a cute touch...unlike the brochure, which read:
”She’ll never know how much I saved…”
Forgotten what day it’s going to be on February 14th? Don’t worry; she’ll never know we had to remind you. Or that we helped you find her favourite things. In fact, all you have to do is take your pick from the beautiful brands on offer in our World Duty Free shop, and take all the credit.
Nice. And who said lazy sexual stereotyping romance was dead?
