· Hawaiian Airlines:
Another week and another new option is on the schedule for Hawaiian Airlines, as the carrier does its best to expand far and wide outside its island home. This time the carrier is on the move over to Taipei, as the plan is to connect Honolulu with Taipei beginning as soon as this summer. Airbus A330s will do the heavy lifting on this new route, and the planes will head back and forth three times per week beginning in July. We’ve kind of lost track, but this seems to be like one of many, many new options from Hawaiian Airlines—especially over to Asia.
· Qatar Airways:
Not really sure how this one fits into their overall business strategy, but we’ll just assume that officials over at Qatar Airways know what they’re doing when it comes to their route network. It sounds like the carrier is getting ready to link New York with Athens. Details are limited for right now, but if things go according to plan the flights will take to the skies at some point during the middle of 2013. Details about exactly when things will happen or what type of planes will be used are limited, but we’ll keep an eye on this. However, a nonstop option all the way to Athens sounds pretty convenient to us.
· Allegiant:
We haven’t mentioned Allegiant in a little bit, but don’t worry they’re still plenty busy and doing the new route thing. This week they announced that they have several new options up their sleeves, but you’ll just have to be patient until 2013 when they first take to the skies.
Once February rolls around the plan is to connect Las Vegas with Reno as well as Phoenix-Mesa with Provo, and the plan is to run these flights two times per week. That’s not all, as Allegiant is also getting ready to head down to Punta Gorda, Florida, as the low cost carrier has plans to link the city with spots like Rockford, Illinois and Plattsburgh, New York—oh, and Toledo, Ohio too. Watch for plenty of low cost fare opportunities, but just keep an eye out for extra fees and charges.
