New options include spots like ink.sack, Border Grill, Umami Burger, and Larder at Tavern. Airport pizza will be taken to a new level—sorry Sbarro—with the first expansion of 800 Degrees into an airport. Sweet treats will include options like Short Cake and Vanilla Bake Shop, so be sure to save some room for dessert. Alternatively, you can just load up on to-go cupcakes before making your way to the gate area.
Not all options can be local ones, but that’s fine with us, as the terminal upgrade will even include one of those newfangled Starbucks locations that serve up wine—nice. Phase one of these new upgrades and options is set to take place at some point in 2013—we’re thinking later rather than sooner—and the second phase will hit the airport in 2014. We’ll believe it when we see it, but we’re kind of thinking that LAX will be the new hotspot for airport eats.
